Abstract

Health is very important to every human life.

Now-a-days, women suffer from much health related issues such as headache,fever, breast cancer, tumour, reproductive problems, etc. The reproductive health deals with the reproductive processes, functions and system at all stages of life among women. The current scenario environment of lack of access to health care for several women in and around Madurai district, the problem of over-medicalisation of different reproductive events of women’s lives has also emerged.

Increasing is an important indicator of this trend. Another such area where surgical interventions are on rise is the treatment of reproductive tract infections. Increased amount of reproductive health issues is most probably due to mental stress. It has been drawn attention to the trend of hysterectomy among spinster, married women, widower middle aged women especially in and around Madurai district. The reasons for hysterectomy among women are most probably due to stomach pain, over-bleeding, absence of menstrual period. The health conditions of women prolapsed uterus and cancer of reproductive organs is seen among young women and as well as middle-aged women. This paper aims to study on the concept of hysterectomy and explain its psychosocial impact among women in Madurai district. This quantitative study administered self constructed questionnaire which was developed by Author and adopted descriptive method to describe the nature of the study of psychosocial impact of hysterectomy women in Madurai district. The data were collected from one of the non-governmental organisation in Madurai through simple random sampling technique to study the psychosocial impact of uterus removal among women their current state.
